Matematisk institutt har i samarbeid med USIT laget små matematiske videofilmer - mattesnutter. Snuttene forklarer sentrale matematiske begreper, repeterer undervisningsstoff og gir eksempler.
Med ett eller flere kamera kan det lages gode opptak av en forelesning. Slike opptak krever ofte en del planlegging, ofte flere teknikere tilstede og en del etterarbeid i form av redigering.
Men som alltid ellers: Det er mulig å gjøre det enkelt og rimelig, eller avansert og ressurskrevende. Kvalitet henger som regel sammen med ressursinnsatsen

Senior research fellow Alexander Refsum Jensenius has just published a paper in Computer Music Journal together with Victoria Johnson. The paper is based on the experience of developing the piece Transformation for electric violin and live electronics (see video of the piece below).

Mange har savnet en ordentlig multimedia-stack på RHEL6. Red Hat tilbyr det ikke, og det er ikke tilgjengelig via EPEL pga. restriksjoner knyttet til patenter i blant annet USA. UiO tilbyr nå programvare som MPlayer og FFmpeg til UiOs RHEL6-maskiner.

Våren 2012 arrangeres et videokurs for forskere og undervisere. Kurset gjennomføres av Multimediagruppen på USIT. Målet med kurset er at deltagerne skal få innblikk i alle elementer som inngår i produksjon av video/film når man skal legge ut levende bilder på UiO-nettet. Den første forelesningen vil bli annonsert bredt og være åpent for alle, mens dag 2 og 3 vil ha påmelding. Kurset er gratis for forskere og undervisere som er tilsatt ved UiO.

Studentenes medvirkning er sentralt i et videreutdanningsemne i organisasjonspsykologi for tillitsvalgte. Undervisningen er lagt opp slik at studentene øves og prøves i teamarbeid, en ferdighet ettertraktet på arbeidsmarkedet.
Texas Tech Discoveries has published a story called "Movement and Musical Meaning" where they present Bill Westney's work and his participation in the NNIMIPA workshop in Oslo last year. During the workshop we made video recordings of a recital (including rehearsal) and motion capture recordings in the lab.
Josué Moreno and Davis Ozolins from the Sibelius Academy are visiting fourMs this week through the collaboration in the Nordic Network for the Integration of Music Informatics, Performance and Aesthetics (NNIMIPA). They are editing and cataloguing the video material collected during the February 2010 NNIMIPA workshop in Oslo, where American pianist William Westney who participated in various motion capture and analysis experiments.

Following up on the successful Interactive Music night at Gabler a couple of weeks ago, visiting researcher Yago de Quay will have a new night showcasing his latest Interactive Systems for dance clubs at the venue Gabler. As last time there will be four systems at work that night, namely the wii-make-music, video jockey, DJ, and motion to music. Together with research fellow Ståle A. Skogstad he will also present a new version of an interactive performance piece using the Xsens MVN motion capture suit. See trailer below.

Artistic research fellow at the Norwegian Academy of Music Victoria Johnson and fourMs-researcher Alexander Refsum Jensenius will perform a piece exploring improvisation in time and space during a concert that also features pieces by Henrik Hellstenius and Peter Tornquist.
Johnson and Jensenius have been collaborating for several years on exploration of various types of technologies for musical expression. The piece currently presented is based on video analysis using modules from the Musical Gestures Toolbox in Jamoma and CataRT .
