Academic practice

Together with the Municipality of Oslo, we have developed an academic practice programme for refugees. Refugees with an academic background may apply through the introduction programme to have relevant work practice in an academic environment similar to the one they have left, to prepare for further studies or work.

Conditions and requirements:

1. Applicants must participate in the introduction programme in Oslo.
2. Applicants must have completed at least one degree from a higher education institution.
3. The university must have an academic environment largely similar to the applicant's own academic background.

Implementation:

Participants in the academic practice programme will be offered a program that provides relevant work training, language training and preparation for further studies or academic work. Depending on the individual participant's skills, the tasks may for instance be equivalent to those of a research assistant or those of a researcher. Participants may also attend university lectures. The aim is that the time in introduction programme will give the participants the opportunity to continue their individual academic career. The academic practice programme does not give any rights to admission to study programmes or employment at the University of Oslo.

Application Process:

Potential applicants must contact their introduction programme adviser, who in turn contacts the academic practice working group.
