International Summer School opens at UiO

These days, 585 students from 95 countries arrive at Blindern Campus to take part in the International Summer School, held for the 66th time this year.

Approximately half the summer school students come to study the Norwegian language. The other half take courses taught in English on topics such as Norwegian culture and society, peace research, human rights, energy and sustainable development, international health, development studies, media studies, gender studies and special needs education.

Apart from the academic program, ISS hosts a variety of cultural and social activities and excursions for its students.

Through its activities, the ISS seeks to promote knowledge and international understanding.

ISS also has a special project for students from different areas in the Balkans, the aim of which is to support interpersonal understanding in conflict areas.

The official opening will take place in the University’s Ceremonial Hall on Monday 25 June at 7 pm.
