The Median statue to be restored

The Median statue overlooking the Garden of Pytagoras is bound for Copenhagen for a complete restoration.

The Median statue, a figure with angel's wings

The Median figure (Norwegian) stands at the concrete wall against Niels Henrik Abel's Building and the Garden of Pytagoras. Now it shall be completely restored and will be gone until October.

Once it stood on top of the centerpiece of Domus Media in downtown Oslo. Architect Christian Heinrich Grosch ordered the figure at M. Geiss Zinc foundry in Berlin. The figure was set up in 1856 and taken down in 1901. In 1986 it was set up at Blindern.

- The sculpture is of zinc. It is a demanding material, says Art Curator Ulla Uberg. Therefore, the median figure is being sent to Copenhagen. The conservation work will be carried out by the Conservation and Natural Sciences Sculpture Workshop at the National Museum in Denmark, which are experts in this material.
