Talk to someone about it

When you consider whistleblowing following harrassment or other serious incidents, consult someone you trust. We have made a list of people who can advise you.

As a student, you can consult:

  • The Information Service at the faculty
  • Contact person for learning environment matters
  • Main supervisor or secondary supervisor  
  • Programme Committee (Programutvalg), Subject Committee (Fagutvalg)or Student Committee (Studentutvalg)
  • The Student Parliament
  • Student Counselling (SiO)
     

As a member of staff, you can consult:

The principal rule is to go through the official channels. If it is a case of bullying or harassment, your employer or safety delegate must be contacted.
If you are in any doubt in connection with other matters on how useful it will be to go through the official channels, you can contact others at UiO who can give you advice. Examples are:

  • Your safety delegate
  • Union representatives ( see under the individual unions at UiO)
  • The Personnel Section
  • The Section for Health, Environment and Safety
  • The Finance and Planning Department (ØPA)
  • The Research Administration Department
     

Anyone can consult the supervisory authorities

Examples of supervisory authorities you can consult are:

  • The Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority
  • The Norwegian Data Inspectorate
  • The Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning
  • The Norwegian Board of Health
  • The Competition Authority
  • The Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority
  • The Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (Økokrim)
