Many units appoint a mentor to assist a new colleague to quickly become part of the community and familiar with procedures and practical matters.
Welcome breakfast for new international researchers
Once or twice every semester the University of Oslo hosts a welcome breakfast for international researchers who have recently joined the institution. The program includes an orientation session providing useful information to newcomers to Norway and UiO followed by a common breakfast and a guided tour of the University Library.
Invitations are sent out by the host department to newly arrived international researchers. The event is also prominently announced on the UiO website.
