Sports and physical activity

Physical activity is a source of health and well-being which benefits both the individual and the university as a whole.

The University of Oslo has adopted several measures with the aim of fostering physical activity among employees.

Employees are entitled to 1,5 hours of physical exercise during work hours per week. UiO encourages all employees to make use of this opportunity.

Of course, training during work hours is not mandatory. The offer is motivated by the fact that physical training increases the individual employee's health, well-being and work performance.

In addition, this is an enjoyable activity to strengthen the ties between colleagues within the individual unit and other across the university community.

Measures

  • Exercise during work hours
According to agreement with their immediate superior, employees may spend up to 1.5 hours per week of their working hours on physical activity that promotes fellowship. UiO expects units that are particularly challenged in terms of arranging physical activity to look for other ways of promoting physical activity.
