To facilitate sharing and reusing of data among researchers Software Carpentry and Data Carpentry, workshops are offered to PhDs and researchers at UiO and OUS.
Research Bazaar 2018
The University of Oslo is repeating the Research Bazaar event from early 2017. The aim of these global events is to equip researchers from all career stages with the digital skills and tools required to do their research better, faster and smarter. To see the program for this year's Research Bazaar and to register check out this webpage.
Software Carpentry teaches researchers in science, engineering, medicine, and related disciplines the computing skills they need to get more done in less time and with less pain. Subjects taught are how to build, use, validate, and share software and the use of Python or R for data management.
In the Data Carpentry workshops high-quality, domain-specific training covering the full lifecycle of data-driven research is thought. Through these workshops researchers acquire the skills to organize their data in a shareable way. Keeping track of data is a challenge, version control and descriptions are necessary in order to what where and how when dealing with digital data.
Open Research Data
A third workshop on Open Research Data offering insight into requirements for data management and sharing, how data management and curation can safeguard research outputs and increase citations, identify good practices for data management and identify services and tools, is also on its way.
University of Oslo is an affiliate of the Software Carpentry Foundation. Affiliate status enables us to strengthen the effort at UiO and gives easier access to instructor training.
