MILEN Research School

The MILEN research school organizes seminars, workshops, courses and seminar colloquia with an interdisciplinary perspective on topics related to environmental change and sustainable energy.

The research school aims for multi-disciplinary discussions and creates a forum for information exchange and informal learning. By inviting participants from the policy-, and from the business sector to interact with UiO researchers we also strive for trans-disciplinary interaction. All PhD students affiliated with the University of Oslo and CIENS are eligible to become members of MILEN research school.

Our events

  • transport-seminar_crop-%28250x179%29 Renewable technology in the road transport sector, emissions and challenges May 6, 2013 12:00 AM

As part of the emissions reduction strategy, the government provides support for new vehicle technologies paying attention to electric vehicles and hydrogen technology. The move from conventional combustion engines to electric or hydrogen technology, poses many questions which we will discuss in this seminar. The mini-conference is a collaboration between the MILEN research school and CenSES, CREE and HyNor Lillestrøm.

  • pierrevignauwikicomm Course: Integrated assessment modeling Sep 9, 2013 12:00 AM

Integrated assessment modeling is a type of scientific modeling that is increasingly common in the environmental sciences and environmental policy analysis. Integrated assessment models integrate knowledge from two or more domains into a single framework. Find the course description.

Increased renewable energy production in the EU will mean a more unpredictable and irregular power production system, which puts increased demands for flexibility in the rest of the power system. How does Norway respond to this situation in terms of wind and solar energy production? And what is the role for the CCS industry? This mini-conference which is a collaboration between the MILEN research school and six FMEs, Solar United, NORCOWE, SUCCESS, CREE, CICEP, CenSES will discuss the role of Norway in a renewable Europe.
