To use some of the UiO IT services, you need to use a computer which is on the UiO network. Perhaps you need to read a journal with UiO subscription or access files in your home directory (M:) from home or while travelling. To do so, you need to use the UiO network remotely through one of these services:
- UiO Program Kiosk – The only solution you can use to access all of the UiO internal services, such as reading journals with UiO subscription, access your home directory (M:) and shared directories, and use applications installed available from the Program Kiosk.
- VPN (Virtual Private Network) – Can be used to read jounals with UiO subscription.
- Remote Desktop - How to use remote desktop to connect to your office computer.
Services you can access only through VPN or Remote Desktop when you are outside the UiO campus:
- Access to your home directory (M:), the program install disk (P:) and other shared network directories, and applications and programs licensed to UiO
- Use Remote Desktop
- Access to journals and databases with UiO subscription
- Use WebVPN on https://vpn.uio.no, or
- Remote Desktop, or
- a VPN client
