The New Norway: Globalization, National Identity, and the Politics of Belonging
The International Summer School, in partnership with the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA), offers the interdisciplinary semester programme The New Norway: Globalization, National Identity, and the Politics of Belonging (formerly Scandinavian Urban Studies Term/SUST) to students from the USA who have completed their freshman year.
The New Norway term examines the contemporary challenges and opportunities for the Scandinavian welfare states in an age of globalisation and mass immigration. The New Norway term is held every Autumn and every Spring semester.
The programme offers hands-on experience through field excursions and internships. The program is based in Oslo and all seminars, lectures and readings are in English.
How to apply
All undergraduate students in the USA are welcome on HECUA study abroad programmes. Selection is based on your completed application, previous academic performance, recommendations and the match between the programme and your own interests, goals and expectations.
