History of Art

The history of art programme provides insight into the aesthetical ideals and artistic practices of different historical cultures. Emphasis is on painting, design, architecture, and buildings. You become familiar with central works of art, from antiquity to our time. The artworks will be studied in a general context of history of ideas and cultural history to explore how changes in people's understanding of society are expressed in the use and reproduction of their material and aesthetic cultural heritage.
