About the course group
Modern Scandinavia 1 focuses on aspects of life and society often associated with Norway and Scandinavia, namely gender equality, policies in the Nordic welfare states and Norwegian language policy. The Nordic welfare states are recognised internationally as pioneers of gender equality. and the language situation in Norway is rather unusual, as it has two official forms. Students will also be given an introduction to Norwegian art history through lectures and visits to museums and galleries.

It is also possible to combine courses from one group with courses from the other groups as well as combining any of these courses with other courses offered in English
Please note that if you choose to combine other courses, you have to make sure that the lectures and the examinations do not collide.
Norwegian Language Courses
Any one of the courses within the course groups may also be replaced by a Norwegian language course. This can be done either through NORINT0114 Norwegian for International Students 60 hours introductory course or through NORINT0110 Norwegian for International Students level 1.
If you already have some knowledge of Norwegian, there are other Norwegian language courses for you to choose as well.
