Semester registration

Students at UiO must register for courses and examinations and pay the semester fee every semester.

Students on study programmes must register an individual education plan in the StudentWeb. Students who do not register an individual education plan, proceed through the semester registration in the StudentWeb.

The deadline for the spring semester 2012 is 1 February. Read more about semester registration

The deadline for the autumn semester 2012 is 1 September.

Semester fee

All students (except ERASMUS, Nordplus and Bilateral students) must pay the semester fee, the copy fee, (and voluntary SAIH contribution) of approx. NOK 540. You will receive a giro in your welcome package. Please also see semester fee and copy fee.

From autumn 2012 the semester fee, copy fee and SAIH contribution will be NOK 680.

Student card or access card

Student cards are issued to students who are staying more than 6 months and who have:

1. Completed the semester registration
2. Received a permanent Norwegian ID number.
3. Reported their permanent Norwegian ID number to the International Student Reception.

Approx. 5 days after reporting your Norwegian ID Number to the International Student Reception, you can go to the SiO centre to get your card. The total waiting time obtaining a student card could be up to 8 weeks after your arrival to Norway.

The access card/swipe card is issued to students staying less than 6 months and who are not entitled to a Student card. You can get this card at the SiO centre after you have completed the semester registration.

The SiO centre is located inside the bookshop Akademica at Blindern Campus. Bring your semester card and a valid form of ID, meaning a passport or a Norwegian ID card with picture. Your photo will be taken at Kortsenteret and your card will be issued there.
