Social Anthropology

This programme offers a broad introduction to cultural and social variation around the world. You will gain insight into the diverse ideas and values that generate human action in different societies, as well as knowledge of the social and ecological conditions for interaction.

The programme also provides an introduction to the theories and methodology of the social sciences.

Social anthropologists develop theories and analyses through the global study of culture and society. They have an important role as mediators and communicators between different cultures. Social anthropologists work with migration and development questions, research, in the education sector, at universities, in public administration, in different interest groups and as consultants in the private sector.
