The scholarship covers inexpensive travel to and from Copenhagen and accommodation in a NIAS room at Nordisk Kollegium, with full board for a period of two weeks.
Application deadlines are 1 June and 1 October.

For å fremme rekruttering og stimulere til kvalitetsheving på norsk Asiaforskning, har Nettverk for Asiastudier opprettet en årlig pris for beste mastergradsoppgave om Asia. Oppgaven må være bedømt ved et norsk universitet eller høgskole i 2012, og høre inn under samfunnsvitenskap og humaniora, bredt definert. Med Asia menes i denne sammenhengen regionen fra Japan i øst til og med Afghanistan i vest, inkludert den asiatiske delen av Stillehavet.
Prisen for beste oppgave er på kr. 5.000, samt et diplom.
Innleveringsfrist: fredag 10. mai 2013.
De som ønsker å delta i konkurransen må sende tre - 3 - eksemplarer av oppgaven til Asianettverket (SUM).

CIENS will address the issue of the environment in developing countries. Research shows extreme disparities in environmental conditions in the developing countries in comparison to wealthier nations. Is enough attention given to these disparities?

Manifest Analyse vil utlyse tre stipender på 10.000 kroner til studenter som vil skrive en tilgjengelig rapport med utgangspunkt i masteroppgaven sin. Den vil bli utgitt som en del av Manifest Analyses rapportserie. Oppgaver med tema som har tydelig relevans for samfunnsdebatten i Norge vil bli prioritert. Vi er spesielt interesserte i oppgaver om velferd og arbeidsliv, men er også åpne for andre temaer.
Frister for å søke stipend er 1. september, 1.februar og 1. juni.

Check out Arctic Institute contributor Tom Fries interviewed with CES-student Fabio Buonsanti during the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsø, in January 2012. Fabio is looking at the possibility of replacing Svalbard's coal-fired power plant, which provides energy for the city of Longyearbyen, with a combination of wind and solar energy.
