Career prospects
Work
A master's degree in Ibsen Studies provides you with knowledge that can serve as background for career oppurtunities in different sectors. Writing a master's thesis teaches you to work independently and analytically, qualities that will help you in many areas. With this master's degree, you can for instance consider working in the publishing industry, the media or perhaps at a university.
Common for all students is the unique experience you get from being amongst students from all over the world. This creates an exciting academic environment, where all the students can give each other knowledge and experience about contemporary reading of Ibsen, seen from different points of view.
Students coming from other countries than Norway, will through their studies not only gain knowledge about Ibsen and his works, but also about Norwegian culture and society in general. This can be useful for working for Norwegian companies abroad or in public institutions where this knowledge is applicable.
It is also important to remember that in any case it takes time to achieve more experience and additional qualifications to get your dream job.
Studies
As a student at the master programme in Ibsen Studies, you can register as a member of the faculty's alumnus network called HF Alumnus. This is a network where you can get in touch with former students and stay updated concerning both research and studies at the faculty, both during and after completing your studies.
With a Master's degree from the Faculty of Humanities, you have the possibility to apply for a doctoral research fellowship at the Faculty, see Information about the Faculty's research training.
