Admission process for Nordic citizens and applicants with a permanent or renewable residence permit in Norway

We welcome highly qualified students from all over the world. Our students come from Asia, America, Australia, and Europe.

Applicants apply to this Master's  programme within 15 April.

Please note that late or incomplete applications will not be processed. All documents must be received by the Faculty of Law within the 15 April deadline. The admission committee will soon after the deadline 15 April start processing the applications.

The admission committee will take into consideration transcripts and diplomas that are sent in within the deadline 15 April, and documents sent in after this date will not be considered. However, applicants who graduate after 15 April may send in transcripts and diplomas at a later stage (no later than 1 August). If admitted, these candidates will receive a conditional offer, the condition being submission of your final Bachelor's certificate. 

1. Online application form (all applicants)

All applicants should apply via the online application form Søknadsweb.

The first time you log in please make a PIN code (which should consist of 4 digits). Remember this PIN code for log in at a later stage.

The online application form is open for registrations from 1 February.

If you do not have a Norwegian citizenship, please include officially certified copies of passport showing pages with identification and residence permit stamp (for applicants residing in Norway).

Motivation Letter

A one-page letter giving reasons for applying for this programme (background, course work in progress, educational objectives).

If your higher education is from outside EU: Transcripts should preferably be sent directly to us by the issuing institution. If this service is not provided, the transcripts must be officially certified and sealed in an envelope by the issuing institution.

3. Where to send your application and supporting documents

5. Norwegian language courses

Nordic citizens or citizens who are residing in Norway will not be given priority as the number of places available is limited. Erasmus and Bilateral exchange students will be prioritised.

6. Housing 

Students apply for housing at UiO campus here (in Norwegian only). You should apply as soon as possible after you have been given the acceptance letter.  Please note that due to the large number of applicants, we cannot guarantee a room for all our students. In most cases, students from the Nordic countries/residents of Norway must find housing on their own (private market).
