Samson Esayas - Research assistant

Samson Esayas completed his LLM in Information and Communication Technology Law in 2012, and has since worked as a research assistant.

An important LL.M.

- Information and communication technology (ICT) has created conducive platforms for education, commerce, politics and other societal processes. It has also posed new challenges for the application of law in developing countries, such as my country Ethiopia.

In many developing countries, the legal regime governing ICT is either deficient or at a primitive stage. Undoubtedly, Ethiopia is one of the developing countries which has not modified its laws to the required degree or established new ones in line with the changes wrought by ICT.

The LL.M. program in Information and Communication Technology Law at the University of Oslo has provided me with the credentials to alleviate emerging problems of law and technology in my country, while enjoying myself on the way.

A great place to study

The informal, close relationship between students and teachers and the program’s focus on teamwork creates a great opportunity to meet academics and international students of different backgrounds and to study in an optimally international environment.

Researcher assistant

After completing the LL.M. program, I got the opportunity to work as a researcher at the NRCCL and undertake research on IP address deployment to developing countries. No amount of words can describe how immensely I benefited from working with an interdisciplinary research group and from being part of the dynamic environment at the NRCCL.
