Guidelines for the hand-in of PECOS assignments

Guidelines for the hand-in of course assignments at the Master's Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies:

Submit the paper in Fronter (in a Hand-in folder).

Three paper copies must be handed in for each assignment.

Each copy should be stapled in the upper left corner.

Declaration: Fill in one form for each course (not per copy).

Number all the pages. Front page and list of references are not included in the required number of pages. The same applies in instances when the size of the assignment is based on the number of words.

The front page should contain information about course, semester, candidate number and title. (Example: PECOS4000, Autumn 2010, Candidate number: XXXX, Title). Please do NOT include your name!

Remember to hand in the assignments before the deadline. Assignments handed in after the deadline will not be accepted.

The assignments must be handed in to the department's reception on the 7th floor between 12.00 and 15:00 on the day of deadline. In Fronter before 23:59 at the day of deadline.

Technical standards

A4 is the standard page format. Left, right, top and bottom margins must be at least 2,5 cm. The text must be written with 1,5 line spacing.

Fonts are optional, but must be in accordance with standards that give approximately 375-400 words per page. We, however, strongly recommend the use of Times New Roman, or equivalent, with font size 13.

Pieces of advice

• Do not print at the last moment. Close to the deadline there might be long printing queues and your print could be delayed for several hours. Make sure to print in time, if possible, print a day in advance.

• If you are late it might be a good idea to print at a different faculty or at the University Library. Delayed print is not a valid excuse to exceed the deadline!

Any take home exam or essay etc. handed in at the University of Oslo may be checked for plagiarism by use of the Ephorus text recognition software.
