How to submit the thesis
When the thesis is ready to be printed:
1. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to get a requisition
All master students get a requisition from the Department of Political Science to print their thesis at the University Print Center (reprosentralen - located in the basement of the Lucy Smith building). When the thesis is ready to be printed, you must send an email to email@example.com (the reception at the Department) to get the requisition. The receptionist will then send the requisition directly to reprosentralen immediately after receiving your email.
You send the thesis as a PDF-file to reprosentralen: firstname.lastname@example.org. Reprosentralen does not accept printed documents or Word-files. USIT has made a manual for converting a document into a PDF full text file. The printing of the thesis takes approximately 4 days. Questions regarding how long the printing takes must be directed to reprosentralen, and not to the Department. If you arrange it yourself, you may also have the thesis printed at a private print shop.
All students get a requisition of 9 copies, 3 of which are handed in to the Department, the other 6 copies are for the student's own use. If you have a co-supervisor, you must hand in 4 copies to the Department of Political Science. The standard format of the thesis is bound (not spiral), two-sided print.
You submit your thesis to DUO, UiO's digital repository, on the StudentWeb, after you have sent your thesis to reprosentralen. The University Library has made a manual on how to do this.
NB: You have to sign in with your username and password, not your PIN-code.
Print the receipt from the StudentWeb registration, the mandatory study form, and hand them in together With 3/4 copies of the thesis to the Department of Political Science. You hand it in at the Reception on the 7th floor, between 12:00 and 15:00.
If you have processed/obtained personal data, which is notifiable to the NSD, it is important that you notify them that the project is completed, and what you have done with the data.
What happens when you have handed in the thesis?
- You will get a written notice when a thesis commission has been appointed. When a date and time of the oral exam has been scheduled, you will receive an e-mail from the Department. The oral exams will be held in June and August.
- Approximately 6 weeks (sometimes later) after the oral exam, your Master's diploma will be sent to your mailing address. It is therefore important that you have updated your mail address in the studentweb.
