Important information

 

In the following you will find a short description of information you need as a student at UiO. However, the web pages listed below is your most important source of information, and we encourage you to visit these sites on a regular basis:

1. Semester fee, exam- and tuition registration and study plan

Each semester at semester start all students at the University of Oslo have to do the following:

  • Make sure you pay your semester fee to “Studentskipnaden i Oslo (SiO)”. The account number to which the semester fee is paid and the amount due is published in Studentweb, www.uio.no/studier/studentweb/.
  • Make sure to register for tuition and exams in the subjects you are going to study the same semester. This is done in Studentweb by filling out your study plan.
  • Confirm your study plan in Studentweb.

The deadline for paying the semester fee, registration for exam-and tuition and confirming your study plan is:

Autumn term: September  1st

Spring term: February 1st

 

StudentWeb – Update status

  • Log in: You log on to the Studentweb by using your username and password. New students receive their username and password by semester start. See more information on username and password below.
  • Registration: Under the heading “Update status” you will find your study plan. Here you sign up for courses and exams you are taking the following semester. Remember to click “ok” and “save”.
  • Payment of semester fee: Under “Payment/Semester fee” you will find the information necessary to pay the semester fee.
  • Semester address: Remember to register your correct semester address. If you move during a semester it is important that you update your semester address.

 

If you have registered correctly the following information will appear on your menu page in the Studentweb:

StudentWeb – Status

Under “status” in the StudentWeb you will find information on what exams you are registered at and your exam results each semester.  

 

2. Username and password

If you have not earlier been admitted for studies at UiO, you will receive a password and username by mail after admission by semester start (week 33/34). If you have not received this information by semester start contact the Student-IT desk at the Faculty of Social Sciences (SV-fakultetet). You will find the contact information at http://www.sv.uio.no/it/student/eng/.

 

3. Courses, lectures/seminars and curriculum

You will find all course information on the web page for the master programme in psychology. On the course page you can click on the semester page where you will find information on lectures and seminars as well as the curriculum.

 

4. Student e-mail address

As a student at UiO you get access to the IT-services and the e-mail system. Important information is sent to your e-mail address only, and it is therefore necessary that you check your student e-mail on a regular basis. To enter your e-mail you have to visit the log on page on: http://webmail.uio.no/. Here you enter your username and password (pkt 2).

5. Student ID/card

In order to get a student ID card at the University of Oslo you must have: paid your semester fee the current semester, registered and confirmed the study plan and received the receipt (semester card) by mail. The student ID card is issued when personal attendance at “Kortsenteret” located in the campus area at Blindern (Kristian Ottosens hus).
