Teaching and learning methods
A wide range of different teaching and study activities takes place in the master's programme. Apart from traditional lectures, teachingseminars, student-driven workshops, projects, and diary-writing are among the activities students will take
part in.
The 3rd and 4rth semester of study is devoted to thesis work. Here the student will work individually on a research project in collaboration with a supervisor.
The teaching and study activities in the Master's programme will vary from course to course. More details will be given in the individual course descriptions.
Compulsory attendance
Many activities on the first-year courses are obligatory. Please see the individual course descriptions for details.
Language
The teaching will be given in english only on the Neuroscience dicipline, and in some of the other courses. For the three other disciplines, the main teaching language is norwegian.

Forms of examination and assessment
A wide range of different assessment forms will be used, from traditional written exams to home exams and oral presentations.
Language of examination
The language of examination is mainly norwegian, with some exeptions. On the Neuroscience discipline the language is english. Please see the course descriptions for details.
Grading scale
The programme contains both courses using the pass/fail scale and courses using the grading scale with five steps from A to E for pass and F for fail, cf. § 6.1 i Forskrift om studier og eksamener ved Universitetet i Oslo (Norwegian only). Each course description provides more information about the grading scale in use.
Diploma
The diploma is issued when you have completed the combination of courses which fulfill the degree requirements. The diploma is issued in English. With the diploma, you also receive a Diploma Supplement, providing more information about the degree and about the Norwegian system of higher education.
