Why choose this programme?

Do you have risk-related work tasks or are interested in risk management? This a programme with a practical approach, developed for those working in the marine insurance and shipping industries. The RMMI programme aims to cover the full circle of risk management in marine insurance.

Management of risk raises technical, organizational, economic and legal questions. Important technical and economic issues are identification of risk, evaluation of risk using statistics and cost benefit analyses to decide the most efficient way to eliminate or finance risk. The legal aspects concern marine insurance as a tool to finance risk by transferring it to the insurer, knowledge about the insurance contract, and training in casualty settlements. Casualty settlements will provide information for the future identification and evaluation of risk, thereby providing the link to the technical and economical parts.

The RMMI programme was initiated by Cefor – The Nordic Association of Marine Insurers, to cater for the steady increase in demand in the shipping industry for advanced education within marine insurance. The programme is supported and further developed in co-operation with Cefor and the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association.

The Master of Arts programme is an interdisciplinary continuing education programme. The courses are delivered by four educational institutions in the Scandinavian countries; the University of Oslo (UiO), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), the University of Gothenburg (UiG) and Copenhagen Business School (CBS).
