Name: Kim Hjardar Degree: Master of Philosophy Line of study: Nordic Viking and Medieval Culture Position: Lecturer at St. Hallvard High School After finishing the studies, I co founded a publishing house called Historieforlaget (History Publishing) and the magazine Levende Historie (Living History). After almost 10 years with the magazine, I started working as a lecturer, and am now teaching at St. Hallvard High School in Buskerud County. I’m responsible for the subjects history and social science in all together five classes. The best part of the job is the close contact with other people in a learning situation. You receive tremendously in return from young, curious people. When working with education, it’s always relevant to have had experience with projects and education planning in institutions for higher learning. It’s especially relevant for me to have studied within an interdisciplinary learning situation. I worked with problems and topics together with researchers from a diversity of fields while studying. This has given me a unique and integrated understanding of historical phenomenon and periods. This is a very important approach on which I draw in a large scale in relation to teaching.

Jeg har studieadministrativt ansvar ved høgskolen. Her arbeider jeg med saksbehandling, for eksempel opptak til studier, studieplaner og eksamen. Jeg veileder også studenter. Det beste med jobben er at vi arbeider i team. Den daglige kontakten med faglig ansatte og studenter er motiverende. Arbeidet består av en fin miks av rutinepregede og utfordrende oppgaver. Utdannelsen har gjort meg i stand til å bearbeide store mengder informasjon og formidle den videre på en måte som gir mening for de som trenger den.
