Hotel
The conference wil take place at the Thorbjørnrud hotell outside Oslo. This modern conference hotel is located in picturesque surroundings at the borders of the beautiful Randsfjord. Thorbjørnrud has its own shoreline with sauna and exercise room.
Situation: As this map shows, Thorbjørnrud is located 67 kilometres north of Oslo and 55 kilometres west of Oslo Airport Gardermoen.
Conference coach on Thursday morning and Friday afternoon [updated on 09.09.10]
Participants having signed up for the conference bus should meet on the seaward side of Thon Hotel Opera (map), at the bus stop near the main entrance (the hotel is situated next to Oslo central station). The coach departures at 8.15 sharp on Thursday morning. The ride is included in the conference fee. Look for a coach with "Askeladden" on the sides and a "Sentient creatures" sign in front. The coach returns to Oslo on Friday afternoon at 16.30.
Transport
From Oslo Airport Gardermoen it is a 45 minutes' drive to the hotel, and the Askeladden Airport Bus stops at the hotel seven times every day. Transfer price: NOK 180 one way. The coach is leaving from platform B 29 at the airport (direction: Hønefoss).
When you plan to leave the Thorbjørnrud hotel, ask the hotel reception to call the driver on beforehand and you will be collected at the hotel. Transfer time to the airport = 65 minutes.

Thorbjørnrud hotel can book taxis (up to 16 persons) to and from Oslo airport Gardermoen, NOK 1000 one way for up to 5 passengers and + 50 NOK per person if you are more. Please think of booking 24 hours in advance. You should expect to pay NOK 1300 or even considerably more if you pick a taxi on the airport.
There will be arranged a bus transport (included in the conference fee) from the centre of Oslo to the hotel on the morning of the first conference day. Time and meeting point will be announced in September. The bus will return the participants to Oslo city centre at the end of the conference.
From Oslo there are regular bus services with Nettbuss and train departures with the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) to the town of Hønefoss. From there you can take a bus or taxi to Thorbjørnrud Hotell (approximately 10 kilometres).
