As part of the emissions reduction strategy, the government provides support for new vehicle technologies paying attention to electric vehicles and hydrogen technology. The move from conventional combustion engines to electric or hydrogen technology, poses many questions which we will discuss in this seminar. The mini-conference is a collaboration between the MILEN research school and CenSES, CREE and HyNor Lillestrøm.

Increased renewable energy production in the EU will mean a more unpredictable and irregular power production system, which puts increased demands for flexibility in the rest of the power system. How does Norway respond to this situation in terms of wind and solar energy production? And what is the role for the CCS industry? This mini-conference which is a collaboration between the MILEN research school and six FMEs, Solar United, NORCOWE, SUCCESS, CREE, CICEP, CenSES will discuss the role of Norway in a renewable Europe.
This mini-conference will address key policy issues in the ongoing UN climate negotiations, with a special focus on the positions of major countries and how coalition building strategies both domestically and in the climate negotiations may impact the new climate agreement.
With a point of departure in a current writing project, this workshop will take students systematically through the most problematic areas of scholarly writing. The focus is on the document level – that is, audience, core argument and structure – rather than the sentence level.

The course introduces students to the method of ethnography used by anthropologists, and to renewable energy technology in a stand-alone, village-size electricity grid setting.
Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research approaches have increasingly been recognized as essential for addressing the complexity of environmental problems. However, integrated research does not automatically result just from putting together contributions from different disciplines. This lecture, which is a collaborative effort by Davind N. Barton, NINA and Rolf Vogt, Dept of Chemistry UiO gives an introduction to how such integrated research can be generated, using mainly the Eutropia project and the field of water management as an example.

The purpose of trading greenhouse gas emissions is to allow for emission cuts to take place where the cost per ton of emission reduction is lowest. We will discuss ethical aspects related to implementation of emission trading systems, distribution of costs across sectors and groups, and issues related to buying credits from the Clean Development Mechanism.
Most of the discussions in climate negotiations are on equity issues. The questions in this seminar are how much emissions should we reduce and who should do it?
