The K. G. Der blir stadig tydeligere at verden ikke kan forstås innenfor en enkel vitenskapsgren. Derfor har Universitetet i Oslo etablert sju tverrfakultære forskningsområder. I utstillingen viser vi noe av arbeidet som skjer innenfor disse forskningsområdene.

Bioteknologinemda var i januar arrangør av et åpent møte med J. Craig Venter om 'Sekvensering av ditt arvestoff' og 'Syntetisk biologi', sammen med Den norske UNESCO-kommisjonen. Bioteknologinemda følger nå opp med åpent møte mandag 9/11-09: 'Syntetisk biologi - liv laga?'
