Seminaret er relatert til PluRel-stipendiat Helge Årsheims PhD-prosjekt om "Legal Forms of the Religious Life" der han analyserer operasjonaliseringen av religionsbegrepet i FN-systemet.

Seminaret knytter til en artikkel av PluRel-stipendiat Vebjørn Horsfjord som vil bli publisert i Nordic Journal of Human Rights.

Horsfjord analyserer Den russisk-ortodokse kirkes tilnærming til den internasjonale menneskerettighetsdiskursen med utgangspunkt i dokumentet "The Russian Orthodox Church's Basic Teaching on Human Dignity, Freedom and Rights" (2008). I tillegg brukes taler, foredrag og pressemeldinger fra sentrale kirkeledere.

På seminaret vil Professor Pål Kolstø (fra Russland-studier ved ILOS/HF) gi en forberedt respons.

Hyon Gak Sunim,Zen monk and teacher (Munich, Germany) Educated at Harvard and Yale and the former Buddhist Chaplain at Harvard University, Hyon Gak Sunim has given public talks at numerous universities such as Harvard, Yale, Oxford, Columbia, New York, Universite de Paris, University of London, among many others, in addition to colleges, divinity schools, and countless temples throughout Korea.
