Course content

An independent research project where the students develop and discuss research questions related to Ibsen and his works.

Learning outcomes

To give a theoretical and methodological basis for advanced studies of Ibsen and his works.

Admission

Admission: 20 students

The examination in this course is not available for external candidates. Only students admitted to the course may sit for the examination.

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisites

Bachelor’s Degree and 60 points in Ibsen Studies.

Recommended prior knowledge

A fundamental knowledge of Ibsen’s literary production and 60 points on Master's thesis in Ibsen Studies

Teaching

A thesis with a topic formulated by the student is to be written under 14 hours individual supervision throughout the process.

Exam information

Each student writes a thesis of 80-120 pages in length. The thesis is assessed and graded by a subject teacher and an external sensor.

Assessment and grading

Course grades are awarded on a descending scale using alphabetic grades from A to E for passes and F for fail. Read more about the grading system .
