INF4280 - Development of IT competence in organisations

Course content

The course provides a background for managing the development of IT capacity in organisations, for user training and support, and for thesis research in the area.

Learning outcomes

The course provides skills in teaching and supervision of computer use, and knowledge for planning and evaluating IT training and support. This builds on the following topics, which will be included in the course:

  • development of competence in organizations,
  • the constituents of user competence,
  • skills and understanding of IT and its use,
  • metacognitive skills,
  • learning of office tools and information systems
  • standards for user competence,
  • learnability of software,
  • material for supporting learning, also IT based

Basic informatics

Overlap

2 credits against INF3240 - Informatics didactics. 2 credits against INF4240 - Informatics didactics.

Teaching

Lectures, reading, oral and written assignments, supervision. One mandatory assignment. Rules for mandatory assignments.

Exam information

Written group report, 40% and oral exam, 60%. The mnadtory assignment must be approved prior the exam. General information about the examination.

Assessment and grading

Course grades are awarded on a descending scale using alphabetic grades from A to E for passes and F for fail. Read more about the grading system .

The External auditor is Edgar Bostrøm.

An external auditor regularly evaluates the academic quality of the course, including the form of exam used on the course.

Possibility of make-up exams and re-takes

This subject does not offer new examination in the beginning of the subsequent term for candidates who withdraw during an ordinary examination or fail an ordinary examination. Withdrawing from exams and limits on re-takes

A student can sit for this exam up to 3 times. If a student wishes to withdraw from the exam, s/he must do this in StudentWeb at least two weeks prior to the first day of the exam. Failure to do so will be counted as one of the three opportunities to sit for the exam.
