Course content
The research topic can be from all areas of mathematics.
Learning outcomes
The student gets an introduction to the chosen research topic and must become familiar to relevant literature, carry out a short project and report his or her findings. This course may not be taken as a part of a masters degree in connection to the Department of Mathematics, UiO.

The examination in this course is not available for external candidates. Only students admitted to the course may sit for the examination.
Prerequisites
No obligatory prerequisites beyond the minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway.
Teaching
The duration of the course is one semester. The study is based on individual work and supervised by one or more supervisors (internal/external).
Exam information
The grade is based on an oral presentation held at the end of the semester.
Assessment and grading
Students are awarded either a passing or a failing grade. Read more about the grading system .
