ENT4110 - Entrepreneurship theory from an American point of view

Course content
This course provides an overview of the challenges of a American high-tech start-up business. The course explores various options for the evaluation and planning of the business. Typical issues that entrepreneurs face are operating and administrative problems, financing, sales and marketing approaches, growth and sale. In addition the students will build on ENT4000 and further explore the use of a business plan to prove, articulate and defend a business idea.
Learning outcomes
The objective is to provide an insight into the challenges, and an in-depth understanding of strategies, for developing entrepreneurial businesses in high-tech industries in America.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisites
ENT4000 - From idea to business or ENT4000I - From idea to business - Intensive
Teaching
Course lectures in the evenings with guest speakers, case analyses, class discussions, presentations and elevator pitches. Approximately six hours of lectures per week.
Exam information
Written assignment and a final oral examination at the end of the semester. Class participation. Graded marks.
Assessment and grading
Course grades are awarded on a descending scale using alphabetic grades from A to E for passes and F for fail. Read more about the grading system .
Anders Lunnan is the external auditor for this course till spring term 2008.
An external auditor regularly evaluates the academic quality of the course, including the form of exam used on the course.
