Course content
This course support the Ph.D. students at the Faculty of medicine in their efforts to write and publish scientific articles.
The course was previously integrated into the compulsory 10 credit course in methods (MF9000E - Research methods in medicine and health sciences: Introductory course), before this was restructured to a 5 credit unit.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is twofold. The participants will:
1) learn simple and robust writing methods to improve their writing ability over time, and
2) gain insight into scientific publishing, in preparation of the demanding publishing processes implied in the Ph.D. studies.
Admission
Ph.D. candidates at the University of Oslo and students at the Medical Student Research Programme will get first priority to the course. External applicants will be admitted if there are any available places.
The StudentWeb is open for registration from 1st June until 1st September.

Final date for registration is 1st September.
The maximum number of participant is 50.
Applicants will be notified by email 1 - 2 weeks after the final date for registration.
Prerequisites
No obligatory prerequisites beyond the minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway.
Teaching
The course is taught in english on the following date autumn 2012
10th December
The course is a one day course and includes lectures, conversations and practical exercises.
NB! You have to participate in at least 80 % of the teaching. Attendance at lectures will be registered.
Exam information
The will be no course exam, but attendance through the entire course is required. Grading: pass/fail.
