Obtaining a supervisor (new addition)
This is for students who started the 5-years master's programme in 2006 or later or one of the 2-year master's programmes in autunm 2009 or later
As a master’s students in Economics you will get a supervisor during the 8thor 2ndsemester of you studies. This is to ensure that you get an early start on your thesis and that you have a supervisor to guide you through the whole process.
It is the master’s committee that is responsible for the allocation of supervisors to students. In order to get a good match between you and a supervisor, it is important that you let them know what you are planing to write your thesis about.
This is done by writing an e-mail to masterkomite@econ.uio.no with the subject SUPERVISION The deadline is 1 Mars.
Please include the following information in you e-mail:
1) Your name
2) Name of master’s programme you are attending
3) Number of credits you have completed as part of your degree
4) Topics of interests (a brief outline no more than 1 page)
5) Name of supervisor if you have made an appointment yourself
If you fail to send an e-mail to the committee, a supervisor will be allocated based on the availability of the academic staff.
The master's commitee has a a goal to get all students supervisors by April. You will receive an e-mail when the committee has found a supervisor for you.
