This is an invitation to participate in a periodic course evaluation for ECON4240 - Equilibrium, welfare and information. The periodic course evaluation comes in addition to the evaluation that has taken place earlier this semester, and is somewhat more extensive. The evaluation is done through an online form, and the deadline for answering is June 6th. Please note that there are some questions concerning the exam. We recommend that you wait with answering this form until after the exam.

You will find the evaluation form here: https://nettskjema.uio.no/answer/54595.html. Your answer will be anonymous. Comments can be given in English or Norwegian.

Hi all,

I will be organizing an extra seminar on Tuesday 14th (next Tuesday) at 11am in Auditorium 2 (same as usual).

I'll be reviewing some of the exercises, and inform you about the structure of the exam.

Hi,

The seminar problem set and the Akerlof "Lemons" paper have now been uploaded.

Hi,

You can find the exercises for the seminar next week under "Seminars". There are only two problems which are closely based on the material in Chapter 2 of the Laffont and Martimort book.

Hi all

I spotted one or two typos today, and also thought about some improvements regarding notation (for instance, I was not very happy about my q superscript tau for the market-based probabilities of different contingencies at time tau occuring, it is too easy to confuse with q the price vector of tradable assets).

It's been lovely teaching you guys, hope students next year will be of the same calibre! Good luck with the rest of the course + exams!

Hi all

I've made some small changes to the notes following today's lecture.

1. I've corrected equation 36.

2. I've strengthened a little definition 18 to better bring out the result of Proposition 6. However this is at the cost of the technical footnote 26.

Hi all,

in the seminars this week, the aim is to go up to (and including) Q24. As usual, make sure you give the questions a shot before attending your seminar.

Hi all

just to let you know I made some minor changes to the notes following today's lecture. Mostly just rephrasing some stuff, and expanding one of the footnotes.

Hi all, thanks to Jonas + Katinka who spotted the following typos in the notes (which I have now corrected).

1. equation (22), the endowments are not functions of the prices

2. Q19, the wealth of the consumers are p.e, not p.x

3. footnote 20, should have been from s_0 to P not to S

NOTE: Next lecture, Tuesday, Feb. 5, is moved to aud. Ullevål kino!

Hey guys

One of you asked a question today which made me think that I should add an exercise which hopefully will help clarify what was puzzling that student. So I've added a new Q22 (as usual, this implies that all previous Qt are now Qt+1 for t greater or equal to 22).

In addition, there was a typo in Q19 which I corrected.

Finally I had forgotten to mention the Edgeworth box in the notes, so I did that now, at the top of page 21.

Seminars will start next week. Q18-21 will be covered in the first seminar.

Hi all, I've made some changes to the notes.

1. I added footnotes on pages 24 and 25.

2. I added a new question, Q23. (so that the old Qt is now Q(t+1) for t greater or equal than 23...)

3. I amended the old Q23 (which is now Q24).

4. In the answers to Q19-Q21 I had misplaced the superscripts. That is now corrected.

Hi all,

went over the proof again today. Turns out I was right the first time. It's a technical subtlety so most of you probably don't care, but nevertheless, I wanted to make sure it was right. So I reverted to the old proof.

In addition, Katinka suggested that I add a few footnotes to elaborate on these truncated demands. So I did. But like I said in class, all of this is really just for those of you who are particularly keen. NONE of this is examinable material.

Ok, just updated the lecture notes with the change I mentioned concerning today's proof (Lemma 6 in the notes).

I also noticed that some of my uperscripts were on the right when should have been on the left. So I changed all that too.

Hi all,

thanks to the person who pointed at in the proof today that the case k=0 need not be considered (since we are assuming it out). Will update the notes on that point later today.

Hi all, just posted the lecture notes. Have a look at the first half of Section 4 before next lecture.
