Description of the entire programme in Languages
The master’s programme in language builds on the bachelor’s programme in language. Specialised studies are offered in many different language subjects. These may be in a given language (such as Nordic languages, German, English, Russian, etc.), language and linguistic phenomena in general, various types of treatment of linguistic material (such as translation studies), language interaction, language acquisition and language deviation.
The programme’s competence goals depend on your choice of specialization: mother tongue competence, foreign language competence, theoretical or applied competence. Through the studies and the work with the master’s thesis you improve your ability to think critically and learn how to work independently applying academic criteria.
A completed master’s degree is a prerequisite for applying for admission to research training within the Faculty of Humanities’ Ph.D. programme
