How to use The Science Shop
To be able to apply for projects through The Science Shop, you are required to have been admitted to a Master’s programme at the University of Oslo.
1. Find a project in the project catalogue
The project texts vary in their degree of specificity and in the extent to which they point out certain disciplines and theories as particularly relevant. It is essential to search the project texts for opportunities and not hesitate to think in untraditional ways.
2. Discuss the project with a faculty member
Contact your supervisor or a faculty member associated with your study programme to discuss whether the topic is suitable for a Master’s thesis in your discipline and whether the academic community can help provide supervision.
3. Write a project outline
The project outline is intended to show the partner institution how you wish to approach your thesis, but there is no need for you to have a fully fledged idea to write an outline and apply for a project. Read our tips for writing a project outline. If you have any questions that need to be clarified with the partner institution before you write your outline, you should contact The Science Shop.
4. Apply for the project
You apply by filling in the email template which is linked to the project in question. Attach the project outline to the email as a document in MS-Word format.
5. Response to your application
The Science Shop forwards your application to the partner institution for approval. You can expect a response to your application within two weeks. If the partner institution is interested in a collaboration, The Science Shop will send your contact information to a contact person in the partner institution.
6. Signing the contract
If you and the partner institution agree to collaborate, you will need to make sure that the contract is signed by the partner institution and returned to The Science Shop.
