Nita Kapoor appointed as the new Director of the International Summer School
Nita Kapoor will be the new Director of the International Summer School at the University of Oslo. Ms. Kapoor comes from the position as Director General of FK Norway (Fredskorpset).
Nita Kapoor has been with FK Norway since 2009. She has, among other positions, been the Head of Culture at The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation NRK, Communications Director of Norway's State Railways, Project Manager in Norwegian People's Aid and Political Advisor for Culture Minister Turid Birkeland from 1996-97.
Assistant University Director Tove Kristin Karlsen is pleased with the appointment:
– The International Summer School is an important showcase for the University of Oslo, and it is a great responsibility to host around 600 students from about 100 countries each summer. Nita Kapoor has extensive experience from international organisations, and we are very pleased to have such a competent and experienced person starting as the Director of our summer school.
Ms. Kapoor has degrees from the University of Oslo and BI, and she is looking forward to returning to the University of Oslo:
– I am honoured by this opportunity, and I am looking forward to returning to my Alma Mater. The International Summer School invites the whole world to Blindern every summer and it will be a pleasure to join the team that has made the summer school so internationally attractive.

The International Summer School at The University of Oslo is a learning community of diverse students who come together to study, interact and increase understanding and good will between nations. Since 1947 more than 30 000 students from more than 150 countries have participated in the International Summer School.
Nita Kapoor will start as Director on September 15 2017. Sonia Mykletun is Acting Director through the summer.
