Practical information

Practical information for speakers and chairs of sessions at The Political Origins of Health Inequities and Universal Health Coverage conference in Oslo, 1 - 2 November 2018.

In this page, you will find the following information:

Session structure and conference presentations

Sessions are 90 minutes long, with 4-5 paper presentations. The chair is responsible of leading the session, introducing speakers and keeping track of time. Sessions will be structured as the following:

  • Chair: Short introduction
  • Speakers: Speakers will be invited to present their paper in a 10 to 15-minute talk. As the program is relatively dense, we kindly ask you to keep your talk under 15 minutes.
  • Discussion moderated by the chair

Please use non-specialist and accessible language, as we aim to appeal to a broad and interdisciplinary audience of academics, policy makers and civil society actors.

Power Point

It will be possible to display your slides (we recommend using PowerPoint or, alternatively, convert your presentation to PDF format). We kindly ask you to send your slides to your session chair, with Antoine in copy, before Wednesday, 31 October.

Please note that you need to have the rights for any picture and illustration you may use in your presentation - this is particularily important as the conference will be live-streamed. The University of Oslo cannot be held responsible for any legal procedure related to copy-right violations.

Transport to and from the airport

The fastest way to get from Oslo Gardemoen Airport to downtown Oslo is by the Airport Express Train (“Flytoget”). Trains leave every 10 min, it only takes about 20 min to get to the city center. Please note that the University of Oslo does not cover an airport taxi, which is both slower (close to 1 hour) and more expensive.

Leaving the international luggage retrieval and custom area, go to the right in the main hall. The train station is indicated by signs. The ticket vending machine accepts all major cards and cash. Fare is NOK 190 one way. If you purchase a ticket at the ticket desk, a fee will be added.

Get off at the railroad station “Nationaltheatret” (The National Theatre). The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the station.

You will find an hotel room at your name at the Scandic Hotel Edderkoppen, St Olavs Plass 1, Oslo, for the duration of your stay (based on the exchange you had with Antoine). Breakfast is included in the reservation.

Payments and Travel reimbursement

The local currency is the Norwegian crown (NOK). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted (Norwegians are fewer and fewer to use cash).

Please remember to keep the receipts for the transportation and any other necessary expenses if you would like to be reimbursed.
