Between Globalization and Global Warming: The Human Condition in the Anthropocene
Dipesh Chakrabarty, Lawrence A. Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor at the Department of History and Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations, and Faculty Fellow at the Chicago Center for Contemporary Theory, The University of Chicago, IL USA, is visiting the Science Studies Colloquium Series. The lecture is open for everyone.
This lecture looks at aspects of the science and narratives of climate change, and also at certain issues of climate justice, to highlight a tension between homocentric and zoe-centric views that marks these discussions. It then goes on to develop an argument about how this working through the tension may help us to reflect back on our understanding of moral dilemmas of the present times.
