ReNEW Emerging Scholars Day
The Third Nordic Challenges Conference kicked off on March 5th, 2019 at the Copenhagen Business School with the “Emerging Scholars Day”:
The ReNEW “Emerging Scholars Day” is an initiative dedicated to doctoral and post-doctoral researchers exploring Nordic societies and their challenges. The program included a poster presentation, the discussion of projects with professors Norbert Götz, Peter Stadius and Caroline De La Porte, and a lecture by Professor Kazimierz Musiał on higher education in the Nordic countries.
The participants’ contributions ranged from questions related to the construction of the Norden in fantasy literature to perceptions of inequality in the region, and from the analysis of past social movements and conflicts that passed ‘under the radar’ to current research on migration in Nordic societies, among other. The participants agreed on the need to keep a critical approach towards the construction of the ‘Nordic’ and to question concepts taken for granted in their respective fields.
The Emerging Scholars Day concluded with the establishment of the ReNEW Network for Emerging Scholars, a network committed to academic exchange and cooperation between the participant universities and beyond.
