Lecture by Professor Michael Zürn: A Theory of Global Governance: Authority, Legitimacy, and Contestation

Professor Michael Zürn from the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB) will present the main findings from his newly published book on the current crisis of global governance.

Place: Eilert Sundts hus, A-blokka, Aud. 2, University of Oslo

The book offers a new theory of global governance, explaining both its rise and what many see as its current crisis. Zürn suggests that world politics is now embedded in a normative and institutional structure led by hierarchies and power inequalities and thus inherently creates contestation, resistance, and distributional struggles.

Michael Zürn is Director of the Global Governance unit at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB) and Professor of International Relations at the Free University of Berlin since 2004.
