The relationship between elective surgical patients’ knowledge and their trust in health care staff

In this study we want to explore patients’ experienced knowledge, and how this relates to trust in hospital staff in surgical treatment.

We will apply a mixed method approach, using both a qualitative and quantitative methods.

There is very little knowledge on how patient education relates to trust in health care services. We will explore how patients understand their own treatment pathway as a result of trust in health care professionals. Thus we will try to understand the dynamics of trust related to patient education in elective surgery.

We apply for funding for 15 months of full-time work to complete a PhD. We already have collected data and analyzed them. Two articles from this study have already been published, we therefore apply for funding only for analyzing and writing for the the remaining 3rdarticle, writing the dissertation introduction and completing compulsory PhD education.
