A study on the perceptions and management of Gestational Diabetis Mellitus and the perceived risk of acquiring Type II Diabetes among women in Mauritius
The aim of this masters degree project is to gain contextual insights from women who previously had gestational diabetes (GDM) during their pregnancy, have given birth within the past 12 months and are not following any medical treatment for diabetes from healthcare professionals within the fields of maternal health and diabetes.
To this end, the project will seek to:
1) understand the factors influencing follow-up and women’s engagement in preventive behaviours, post-partum, in Mauritius;
2) explore the flow of information between health professionals and women in regards to future diabetes risks and prevention;
3) assess the role and need of support from health professionals.
