Induced abortion among young women in urban Tibet: A qualitative study
The overall aim of the study is to generate new knowledge about abortion among young urban Tibetan women in Lhasa, Tibet and to gain new insights into how the socio-cultural context of these abortion influence their decisions and experiences.
Objectives:
- Explore the information sources of abortion among young Tibetan women who eventually underwent abortion
- Explore the reasons and processes for deciding about abortion among this group of women
- Explore the challenges women encountered when they were making this decision
- Explore personal experiences and perceptions of undergoing abortion
- Explore the needs of women of post-abortion care
- Explore health care workers’ perceptions and opinions with respect to induced abortion
- Access community members’ knowledge about abortion
- Access community members’ attitudes toward young women’s abortion practices
