Chronic heart failure:Prevalence of Anemia, Adherence to iron intake, patient perceived burden of treatment and relationship to anemia status in Ethiopia

Despite, efforts made to identify factors related with poor adherence to iron intake and put patients on heart failure self-care programs, anemia in heart failure patients remains high. Being on complex medication could be one of the main reasons for poor adherence to iron intake then by contribute for high anemia. This can be evidenced in that chronic heart failure cases usually took a combination of multiple drugs throughout their life time depending on their classification or stage. The main purpose of the project is to assess prevalence of anemia, adherence to iron intake and patient perceived burden of treatment and its relationship with adherence to iron intake and anemia status among patients with chronic heart failure in Ethiopia. A quantitative method using cross sectional and cohort study design will be used in this project. Newly diagnosed adult anemic heart failure patients for whom iron supplementation is prescribed will be the participants. .
