Person-Centered Dementia Care: From Care Theory to Care Practice
How do health personnel and managers understand and enact person-centered dementia care in Norwegian nursing homes? Person-centred care has been described as the best way to care for a person with dementia and it is now a central theme within the Norwegian political agenda. The present qualitative study is an exploration of the gap that exists between policy and practice. Through the use of observations and in-depth interviews with health personnel, this masters degree project aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the ways in which PCC theory and training is understood, enacted or resisted across different levels of staff within the daily context of dementia care in Norwegian nursing homes.
