The molecular mechanism and impact of transition from diploid to aneuploid cells in cancer.

The main aim of this pilot project is to study the causes and the consequences of polyploidization in
breast carcinomas. The main questions we want to illuminate are:
- Can the differences between diploid and aneuploidy cell fractions be due to polyploidization?
Does it differ between luminal and basal-like breast cancer?
- Does aneuploidization/polyploidization alter gene expression?
- Does aneuploidization/polyploidization cause non-symmetric cell divisions and increase
missegregation of chromosomes?
