Personality, social relational orientations, well-being and health. A longitudinal twin study

The project will combine and integrate two fields of research: a) personality, somatic health, pain, mental health and well-being, and b) social relational orientations, core relational perceptions and social attitudes. Thus far, there is an absence of knowledge about the relative contribution of genetic and environmental influences on the latter, and how they underpin the recently well-established heritability of specific political attitudes, and our study will in that respect represent a novel and groundbreaking project. Moreover, we will be able to examine the degree to which personality, social relational orientations, health and well-being are related phenotypically and in terms of underlying genetic and environmental factors. By using longitudinal twin data we will investigate predictors of various health outcomes and well-being, and estimate genetic and environmental contributions to stability and change in specific phenotypes. The cohort in focus will provide important information about aging processes and lifespan development.
